campaign in boston on tuesday night. joining us on our news line. hi ginger, good morning. >> good morning. thanks for having me. >> bill: it was not a happy night there. the word got around pretty close that things were not going romney's way didn't it? >> it was pretty clear early points in the night that he wasn't going to win but there was sort of a group that held out hope in boston. but the crowd started to dwindle, the enthusiasm was gone really early. >> bill: what were some of the signs like virginia didn't immediately go or north carolina didn't immediately or florida or ohio? is that what people were looking for? >> yeah, you were looking for wins in any of those states. and even north carolina which sort of everyone had conceded at that point. they knew that -- the obama camp had conceded. they knew that romney was going to win north carolina. i think they called new hampshire before north carolina which was not a good sign for people hoping for a romney victory. >> bill: what were they saying now the ne

news that romney was, quote, shell-shocked when he realized he lost. "the boston globe" said the campaign had planned a big fireworks show to celebrate the victo victory. for a few moments, it was actually online and really to go. and it includes plans for the inauguration. and it says he's working on a smooth transfer of power. but now mid romney is a private citiz citizen. he doesn't have secret service protection. the campaign aides say the credit cards have been cut off and supporters say he's likely to move to his home in california. i think he just fades, says one top donor. i think we have seen for the most part the last of mitt romney. but for the party he's leaving behind, the debate is just beginning. does the gop adapt, or does it fade into relevance? is this the party of lincoln or the party of rush limbaugh. joining me is megan mccain, columnist for "the daily beast and msnbc contributor. on election night she tweeted, quote, my party has to evolve or it's gooding to die. hogan go aheadly, he's worked for both rick santorum and mike huckabee. thank you both for j

since then, they make more u-turns than a boston cab driver trying to get to the place where he was. when you look at the results of this election come you can try connect connection between policies president obama has led on a devoted support he got. if in the face republicans decide what they need to do is go back and do it even more conservative again, far be it for me to persuade them otherwise. we got another election in four years. i can levitate, but it wouldn't be wise. >> on the religion question i agree was blaise entry into. if you look at the polling of people less likely to vote for a candidate because they were more men, the majority of his people thought barack obama is a muslim who was born in canada country in kenya. it wasn't there to make it a negative, but it is true democrats did not make it an issue. >> some of the positions from me to turn the primaries really hurt specifically with regard to immigration reform. it is newt gingrich is that romney was the most conservative on that issue in any country where it is the fastest-growing bloc of voters, that's real
